R6 - Building the business around the technology.

R6 is an EU Sustainability & CSRD Data Platform. The European climate-tech venture is addressing critical gaps in corporate ESG reporting. By combining satellite imagery, AI, and emissions datasets, R6 provides transparent environmental impact data aligned with the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and EU Taxonomy regulations.

THE CHALLENGE

R6 was already an advanced technology company with a strong product, a clear environmental vision and deep subject-matter expertise.

But the business had largely been built by an environmental expert and a technology architect. While the product and technical thinking were well developed, many of the commercial and organizational foundations around them were still taking shape.

There were gaps across financial modelling, commercial strategy, hiring, brand and organizational structure. Individually, each could have been treated as a separate project. Together, they pointed to a broader challenge:

The technology had evolved faster than the business around it.

WHAT I SAW

There wasn't one missing piece that would solve everything.

The gaps were connected. Commercial decisions affected product direction. Product plans affected hiring. Hiring depended on the financial model. Brand needed to communicate a proposition the business itself was still defining.

So rather than filling those gaps independently, we needed to step back and understand what kind of company R6 was becoming, then make the different parts support that direction.

WHAT I DID

I worked closely with the founders to identify the gaps and build the missing pieces together.

The work crossed business and product strategy, financial modelling, organizational structure, hiring plans, vision and brand. In some areas I created new structures; in others, my role was to bring existing thinking together, challenge assumptions and help turn specialist knowledge into clear business decisions.

Because the work was interconnected, each piece helped inform the next rather than being developed in isolation.

WHAT CHANGED

R6 moved from having strong technology, expertise and vision toward having a more complete business around them.

The outcome wasn't one strategy document or operating model. It was greater coherence between what the company wanted to achieve, what it was building, how it would make money, who it needed and how it presented itself to the market.

The technology was already sophisticated. The work was about making the business around it equally intentional.
